SHARING LANGUAGE, CULTURE, FRIENDSHIP AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
Valor Para Todos is a Haverhill, MA community service project that is all about experiencing the rewards of giving back. The program is designed to offer a language skills exchange between English and Spanish speaking children. Valor Para Todos simply means "Value for All" in English, and infers there is an equal exchange. Both the English and Spanish students benefit with the opportunity to improve their language skills, experience the rewards of community service and have fun!
This program is designed for both English and Spanish speaking children who are either looking to either improve conversational Spanish or English. English speaking children are seeking opportunities to improve Spanish conversational skills. Spanish speaking children will have the opportunity for tutoring in English.
Our volunteers speak English as their primary language and will meet after school at your school or facility with an adult chaperone. We will provide homework help where grade level appropriate or simply play games and create art projects. We will bring our own games, art supplies and materials. We are currently focusing on elementary school level K-7.
We require that the English speaking student volunteers be currently studying Spanish in school and have at least two years of previous Spanish experience.
Created in April 2015, Valor Para Todos is currently operating from Constentino Middle School in Haverhill ,MA. We meet with our group 2-3 time a month.
Principal John Mele and ESL teacher, Mrs. Caity Ovalles have warmly embraced this program and given Valor Para Todos a home in their school and with their ESL students. We have grown together and are optimistic about the future. We hope to expand with more volunteers and into new school and organizations next year.
